"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
-Carl Rogers
What is Online Counselling/eTherapy?
Online therapy (also known as eTherapy) is psychological support, information, online counselling and other help that is provided online on a computer, tablet or smartphone.
There are many different types of online therapy. Some are as simple as screening tools and checklists to help you decide if you want to seek help for a psychological issue. Some offer web seminars. Others have structured online programs. Some programs offer an online counsellor or online psychologist to talk to, while others don't.
Online therapy can be a very effective way of helping most people.

What is an
eTherapy/Online Counselling Session
An eTherapy/online counselling appointment with us is just like any other appointment you have with a therapist.
The only difference is, instead of being in the same room, you will use an online platform (like Zoom and Skype) or telephone for your therapy session.
If you are currently experiencing high levels of stress, anxiety, are feeling overwhelmed or you are socially isolated, telehealth counselling could be a good option for you because it is accessible from your computer and phone.

TMHW puts measures in place so that your eTherapy/online counselling appointment is just as private as face to face appointments.
Only you and your counsellor have access and are present during your eTherapy/online counselling appointment.

E-therapy has become the official term for ongoing online interactions between a therapist and client. In
e-therapy (Bloom, 1998; Ainsworth, 2000 in Manhal-Baugus, 2001: 4)

E-therapy is defined as a licensed mental health care professional providing mental health services via e-mail, video conferencing, virtual reality technology, chat technology, or any combination of these.
What are the benefits and disadvantages of online therapy?
-
Some people find online therapy useful because you can go online when it suits you — after work or late at night, when children are asleep, and at weekends.
-
It can also help people who can't easily get to regular treatment sessions because of time or distance.
-
Some people find it less confronting than speaking directly to a counsellor or psychologist.
If your online therapy includes a structured program, being online means you can work through the tasks when you're ready.
However, online therapy isn't for everyone. It might not suit you if you're not comfortable with technology. And it might not suit you if you're in crisis.
